Bad Jessika

So I know I said I was going to keep the blog updated better but I've just been having so much fun that I haven't had the time!!!
That changes now though I promise this time you'll get at least one fresh exciting post every week.

Unfortunately I still haven't got that copy of FHM to do my "what the fuck were they thinking" post on the hot 100 so you'll have to wait for that...in the mean time pop over to FHM.com and vote for this years hot 100- may I suggested googling Samantha Barks at the Oscars and then voting off of that!!!

How's about we kick this off with a hot or not list of the movies that came out in cinemas this year? Me and Damian have pretty much seen them all, but remember opinions are my own so you may disagree and feel free to tell me why in the comments section.

Ok here goes:
Les Miserables- HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT five hots for the five times we've gone to see it! I really truly could not love this movie more, perfectly cast, even Russell Crowe doesn't bother me after the first viewing. It brought Samantha Barks to the big screen where she is so good it's scary, and It silenced the haters that were forever tarring Anne Hathaway with the Princess Diaries brush!
All in all perfect movie that I probably will watch at least once a month every month until the day I die.

Gangster Squad- WARM, I didn't dislike this movie but it didn't really excite me. Emma Stone is beautiful and a great actress but was under used in this gangster flick...best part was probably the guy at the beginning (no spoilers but if you see it you'll know what I mean) .

Zero Dark Thirty- HOT, seriously brilliant movie! I  get this into movies that are essentially about logistics and war etc but this made me think and feel so many different things! It can be quite harrowing at some points but not in a gruesome way just a feeling in your heart and despite the fact we know the outcome I still enjoyed it hugely.

Movie 43- I can't even hot or not this! There are no words, watch it once that is all you never have to watch it again but it definitely needs to be seen. I laughed until I cried, I almost vomited at one point and I had to watch Les Mis again to get the image of Hugh jackman in this out of my head.

Lincoln- NOT, this movie is dull as sin. I get that it's a huge time in a history, a great story about a great man but jeez is it boring! Could've been at least half an hour shorter too.

Flight-WARM, great start, Catalina from my name is earl has a nice body, and it tells a good story. But the ending is predictable and I felt uncomfortable watching some bits...also if you are a recovering addict it's probably a bad idea because even I left the theatre wanting a line or two lol.

Hitchcock- HOT, brilliant movie about a brilliant man. I think i enjoyed it slightly more than Damian because I did a film study on Psycho and this movie has so many subtle nuances throughout it that are impossible to miss for someone that has looked into it. That said you don't need to have seen Psycho to see Hitchcock but I would wonder why you are going to see a semi- biopic about a man whose most successful movie you haven't seen.

I Give it a Year- NOT, just meh. Some jokes were funny but you've seen them all in the trailer already, most of the others just fall flat. It touts itself as the anti-romcom but still has a sappy happy ending. And I'm sorry but Rose Byrne and Rafe Spall are a total mismatch!!!

Beautiful Creatures- HOT, this movie was really good, different kind of story, new up and coming actors mixed with seasoned pros and some awesome effects. HOWEVER if you have read the books you may be disappointed.

Moulin Rouge- HOT, HOT, HOT, okay so this didn't technically come out this year but it was shown on Valentine's Day so it counts. I love, love, love this movie. The music, actors, dancing and storyline combine to make a beautiful story about Bohemia and I could literally watch this every day.
If you like musicals- watch it, if you like the Opera-watch it and if you want to see Nicole Kidman faking an orgasm whilst writhing about in a fur rug- watch it!!!

This is 40- HOT, I found this funny, not the greatest comedy ever and not as funny as its sort of predecessor but still funny. Melissa McCarthy is a comedy genius!!!

Warm Bodies- HOT, I really enjoyed this. Totally original concept, some fighting, and a little great music. Must see!

A Good Day to Die Hard- WARM, this is a Die Hard movie simple as that, the story line is new, the outcome is a touch predictable and Mary Elizabeth Winstead seems to have forgotten how to act. But at it's core it still a great action flick of inconceivable stunts, explosions, car chases and gunfights. And Bruce Willis still totally has it!!!

And that's it so far! Hansel and Gretel, and Safe Haven at the weekend and maybe Mama soon if someone's not too tired (or scared :-p).

Apart from movies and a lot of great times with D, it's mostly been work, a dislocated wrist and planning for the CLAN event me and the team are running, so happy busy times.
Now if you will excuse me I'm off to hang the Anfield Road street sign D bought me and delve into the giant box of nerds he tried to surprise me with :-).

Tata for now :-).

XoAjXo

  1. One feature I did see without this amazing young ladywas Cirque which in AJ ratings was hot hot hot. Aways love cirque and to see it on the big screen and in 3D was truly amazing! Everything about the whole performance was amazing and should they do another special screening I urge all of you, unless you have a fear of clowns to watch it.

Regards, Damian aka Damo aka D :-)
